Comic-Con 2014

I have always wanted to go to Comic-Con.  But I have always been too intimidated to brave going alone.

Well this year I made a new friend, and he told me in no uncertain terms that I WAS going this year.  And that was that.

Of course, because I go over and beyond on everything I get excited about, I decided I would go all four days.  I would wear a different costume each day.  And I would be bad ass.

BAD ASS.

Of course, this means I'm going to have to attempt not to be shy and stand in a corner looking at my shoes all day.  So what is the best way to combat shy personalities?

Be BAD ASS.  That's how.

So two, of my four costumes, are some heavy ass kickin' women.  And the other two...are pretty strong females as well.

Let's start with the most fluffy- Elsa.
This is not my image, I borrowed it from this site.

Course, she really isn't fluffy.  Her powers are formidable, but compared to the rest.  Fluff.

For those who don't know, I work for a princess company playing mostly Elsa and Belle.  And while I adore our Elsa dress, I really want to make her coronation dress.  Because it's awesome.  I may sweat to death in June in Phoenix in a full covering suede outfit, but I'll survive.  It won't be the hottest costume, that is for sure.  This also will be the most time consuming of the projects, mostly because of all the embroidery.  Since I don't have an embroidery machine I'll have to do the embroidery by hand.  Which will take FOREVVVVEERRRRRR.

Next on the bad ass scale- Tauriel.
Also not my image, borrowed from Flicker.

I've already made this costume, and if you want to see it, head on over to my Hobbit premiere page!  I loved wearing this costume, I just want another chance to wear it.  Plus the guy whose group I'm going with may be cosplaying Legolas...so PARF.

Kick Ass Vamp- Selene.
Again, not my image.  Borrowed from here.

I have wanted to cosplay Selene since... FOREVER.  Since I first saw Underworld.  All that tight leather and laytex and fangs?!  Rawr.  Cannot wait to put that on.  For this I will be buying the laytex catsuit...because I have never worked with laytex and I'm scared I'll screw it up.  But I will be making her corset, which will take some extra time and effort with that front embroidery.

Ultimate Kick Ass Female- Mord'sith.
I do not own rights to this image, borrowed it from here because this is the absolute best cosplay of a Mord'sith I have ever seen.

I've also...sorta made this costume.  Head on over to the Mordsith pages 1, 2, 3, 4 if you want to see the progression of this costume.  I was making it as a second Halloween costume, but when I was trying it on I came across some huge problems.  Leather, real leather, is a tricky, evil fabric.  It is 0% forgiving.  The catsuit sagged in the bum, the arms twisted weirdly, and I almost poked my eye out with one of the embellishments on the corset.  No lie.  I had a cut/bruise right below my eye for several days.  After that I was just kinda scared to put the gorram thing on.  (Yes, gorram.  I'm a Firefly nerd <3)

But, I spent a lot of time and money on this costume, and it deserves to be perfect.  So I will be pulling it out and trying again.

It also deserves to be worn.  At least once.  I'll probably sweat to death in this as well.  But it will be worth it.

Needless to say, I am very, very excited for Comic-Con and will be posting pictures of progress.

  1. Hooray! Very excited to hear you're going. I have several "survival tips" for you when going to such an event if you'd like to hear them. Just let me know :)

Also, I'm really interested to see how your Selene costume turns out. Also Elsa's coronation dress.
Actually, all of them. I just want to see how they all turn out. Your work has and continues to amaze me. Keep it up :)
